hahaha! you thought I had abandoned the website project for the last two months, when i had actually been feverishly rewriting the entire thing in SvelteKit! I've been meaning to give myself a serious front-end project, and i hate the state that social media is in as a whole, so i made one just for me, and everyone's invited :D

as i'm sure you can tell, literally everything has been replaced, and there's a ton of new stuff! here's some highlights:

blog+music+fonts

i realized pretty soon after starting the blog that if I wrote about what I really wanted to, 70% of my blog was going to consist of long-form essays about music and typography, so I took those two and made them into their own separate blogs where I can compile everything I like into filterable, sortable lists that I can use to organize my thoughts.

in several places i refer to these new post types as "reviews," but that isn't entirely accurate, because I'm not reviewing anything, I'm just writing down things i adore. i've got no time to focus on the things i don't love, and even less to codify and publish these thoughts. especially in this music climate — more musicians, and fewer careers to be made in music, than ever.

i have also employed a random number generator — one of the best, i'm told — to select one font and one track from their respective categories daily and put them on the main media page.

i've pre-written a handful of reviews for each of the new categories, but again, I could probably go on about either of these topics for hours, so expect more! soon!

the regular blog, on the other hand, has a more nebulous nature, so i cleared its old data, and this is the only post to begin with. Now that it's free from the shackles of my autism, I'll likely be using it for project and life updates, crackpot cultural opinions, and abstract poetry, like an insane person's blog is meant to be used for.

account system

you can now sign up for a VOLBOT•ORG account, which allows you to reserve a username, receive notifications, and edit your comments! i've rewritten the comments system to reflect this, which makes everything far cleaner and better to use.

of course, accounts are not required to do anything, and guests are more than welcome in my domain. the main reason I wanted to do the account system was so that I could customize my presence and have reply notifications, so i figured i had might as well let everybody do it :P

unfortunately, i had to clear the databases as they currently exist, because the schema changed too much and porting over the data would have been awkward, but there wasn't too much up yet, so better earlier than later.

with an account, you can also select a favorite color and reviewed font for your username and comments, helping you stand out from the rabble! my current font is Xanh Mono, and my current color, obviously, is #8bcf00.

as you can tell, there's way more than that, but that's everything that deserves a subhead, so have a look around! i'm writing this post while getting ready to publish the website, so as you're reading this, i'm likely hard at work fixing one of the many glaring issues that i inevitably missed in my "final testing" phase, but once I'm done with that, i'll be reviewing every album i've ever heard and every font i've ever used! and believe it or not, i still have like hundreds of ideas for the website ranging from one-off gags to entire systems! so check back soon! if you read this far i love you
