My first love (as far as Linux distributions go) was Arch Linux. I spent years on it, and it served me well. However, for most of the time I spent on Arch, I tried to make it declarative in such a way that I could configure a majority of my computer's functions from a predictable set of files, and thereby reproducible in a minimal number of steps, but as I came to learn, Arch just wasn't meant for that, and I accepted my fate of spending a frightening amount of time reorganizing my software house of cards to make sure it could do most everything I needed to.

Then, toward the end of 2025, a friend showed me NixOS, which out-of-the-box does everything that I was trying to force Arch to do! So now I use that. Here's my configuration. It's a work in progress, and always will be.
